Genie 3 vs Marble

Google DeepMind's Genie 3 and World Labs' Marble are two of the most-discussed world models, but they answer different questions. Genie 3 generates a real-time, explorable video world from a text prompt and keeps it consistent for a few minutes at a time. Marble builds a persistent 3D scene from text, images, video, or panoramas that you can edit and export as real assets. This page compares only what QuantWorlds has independently verified for each — nothing here is estimated.

World Labs has released several Marble versions (1.0, 1.0 Draft, 1.1, 1.1 Plus). This comparison uses Marble 1.1, the current general-purpose release World Labs itself recommends as the default starting point — not the larger-scale "1.1 Plus" variant or the earlier drafts.

What is Genie 3?

A general-purpose world model from Google DeepMind. Given a text prompt, it generates an explorable environment you navigate in real time — DeepMind describes sessions of a few minutes of continuous interaction before consistency degrades. It has no public API and no open-source release; access is through Project Genie.

What is Marble?

A 3D world-generation model from World Labs. It turns text, images, video, or panoramas into a persistent, editable 3D scene, exportable as Gaussian splats or mesh assets for use in Unity, Unreal, or Blender. It has a real API and freemium/paid access tiers.

Access and playability

Both are publicly accessible today, but the shape of access differs. Genie 3 is a research-preview experience with no account tiers disclosed beyond Project Genie itself. Marble is a commercial product: a free tier exists, but generated output only carries commercial rights on the paid Pro/Max tiers or through the API — see Licensing below.

Interaction and real-time generation

Genie 3 is explicitly real-time: DeepMind states it runs at 20-24 fps with fluid interaction. QuantWorlds has not independently verified a real-time claim for Marble — its own materials describe it as generating an editable scene rather than a live, moment-to-moment interactive stream, so that row is recorded as not verified rather than assumed either way.

Developer access

Marble has a documented World API. Genie 3 does not currently have a public API of any kind — access is through the Project Genie interface only.

Open source and licensing

Neither model is open source. Marble's commercial-use terms are tiered by account: Free-tier output stays personal/non-commercial use only; Pro and Max paid tiers, and API access, carry commercial rights under World Labs' Terms of Service. QuantWorlds has not found published commercial-use terms for Genie 3 — that field is recorded as not verified, not as "no."

Which has playable Worlds on QuantWorlds?

Neither, currently, in QuantWorlds' hands-on-verified sense. Genie 3 is linked to Project Genie, which requires a paid Google AI Ultra subscription. Which should you explore?

If you want to research how an agent might learn inside a live, responsive environment, Genie 3's real-time generation is the more direct fit. If you need a persistent 3D scene you can export, edit, and bring into an existing engine or pipeline, Marble's API, export formats, and engine compatibility make it the more production-oriented option. Neither is a strict upgrade over the other — they verify differently on almost every row above because they're built for different jobs.
